District 1 Facility Operations Team Member

SUMMARY:
District 1 Facility Operations Team Member is responsible for the cleanliness of the facility while offering great customer service for guests at designated hours. Maintain a safe area for all guests in the Facility. Additionally, maintaining all areas in a clean, orderly fashion while assuring all rules and regulations are enforced. The Team Member will also be responsible for supervising swimming activities while the pool is in use and will perform life saving measures as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 6 months of related work experience on similar role or ability to perform scope of work.
• Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalent.
• American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent.
• American Red Cross Standard First Aid or equivalent.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned work, required.
• Must be able to lift 150 lbs or more.
• Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to carry out oral and written instructions, required.
• Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of the visitors and other staff.
• Swimming proficiency and comfort in all types of pools.
• Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety.
• Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies.
• Knowledge of methods and techniques of providing on-site emergency medical services.
• Familiarity with and ability to operate office equipment, including fax machines, photo copying machines, etc.
• Basic personal computer skills in a Windows environment, including spreadsheet and Word applications.
• One (1) year of experience with handling a multi-line phone preferred
• One (1) year of experience with cash/credit handling preferred.
• One (1) year of experience with Point of Sale systems preferred
• One (1) year experience as a receptionist; or six months related experience and training in phone etiquette, customer service or any other administrative training.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises swimming and center activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
• Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
• Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
• Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
• Inspects all facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
• Supervises and assists in cleaning the pool and all related facilities and equipment.
• Tests the chemical levels in the pool and adjusts as needed.
• Maintains manual or automated records of accidents or mishaps.
• Picks up trash and cleans swimming pools.
• Maintains indoor and outdoor facility cleanliness and safety by performing daily maintenance tasks.
• Operates a multi-line telephone console to receive incoming messages.
• Answers phones, obtains caller's name when necessary and take messages.
• Collects and distributes messages.
• Maintain and updates various lists and databases such as a call log, visitor log and other journal entries.
• Ability to maintain a database or spreadsheet.
• Ability to operate retail and reservation software and programs
• Assist in handling and resolving member, guest and participant concerns and inform team members or Site Manager of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Any other tasks or duties as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Must be able to work a variable schedule, including some weekends and holidays.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Nature of work is such that incumbent experiences infrequent period of moderate to high stress levels due to current workload of visitors and callers. Agitated or distressed callers/visitors may also be a source of stress.
• Work is exclusively in doors in a controlled climate area.
• Little threat of personal danger or risk.
• Hours are typically 7am-7pm, but Community Center Community Center is a 24/7 operation and some late hours and work on weekends will be required.
• Background investigation required that shows no theft or fraud above a misdemeanor, no felony drug conviction and no sexual or crimes-against-a-person conviction at any level.
• A staff person with direct contact with or access to children in care must disclose the arrest, conviction, and applicant background information if that staff person:
(a) has a conviction of, has admitted to, has an adjudication of delinquency for, has been charged and is awaiting trial for, or a preponderance of the evidence indicates the person has committed:

  1. a crime against a child;
  2. an act of physical or sexual abuse;
  3. neglect;
  4. a felony;
  5. the same or similar crimes as those in this subsection listed in the laws of another state or of the United States or of any Tribal law;
    (b) has a conviction of, has admitted to, has an adjudication of delinquency for, has been charged and is awaiting trial for, or a preponderance of the evidence indicates the person has committed any misdemeanor offense under Federal, State, or Tribal law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact or prostitution; crimes against persons; or offenses committed against children. The Licensing Committee may evaluate the nature and time of a misdemeanor assault charge as well as other types of misdemeanor crimes not specified in this section to determine whether employment is appropriate.
