Environmental Services Technician DI HHS

SUMMARY:
The Environmental Services Technician performs routine cleaning, disinfecting, glass cleaning, and floor care for the interior and exterior of Clinical, Dental and other Health and Human Services facilities. This role supports all Health and Human Services facilities by providing a clean, germ free environment for staff, patients, clients and community members within all areas. Basic Infection control practices, disinfecting surfaces, and simple floor care are the primary roles for this position. Some support for program and community events.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED certification required.
• Previous experience janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping field is strongly preferred.
• Additional training in basic infection control and disinfection techniques is desirable.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Uses supplies and chemicals in a cost-effective manner while providing a clean and safe environment.
• Ability to adhere to a schedule for regular cleaning of all areas assigned.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple dissimilar projects/tasks.
• Ability to maintain safe working conditions at all times.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, interact with various member of the staff and community, and responds appropriately to requests.
• Effective interpersonal skills including good listening and communication.
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact with all members of the Health and Human Services team responding appropriately to various requests.
• Experience in and sensitive to Native American culture desired.
• Knowledge of proper disposal techniques for regulated medical wastes and other bio-hazardous waste.
• Uses supplies and chemicals in a cost-effective manner while providing a clean and safe environment.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass a Pre-employment drug & alcohol test.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Following established policy and procedures of Health and Human Services: Environmental Services Department.
• Completes tasks that are scheduled daily, weekly and monthly.
• Provide a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout Health and Human Services.
• Operates and uses all cleaning equipment safely, effectively, and according to manufacturer’s instructions.
• Empty waste receptacles, garbage, and waste baskets and transport to the dumpster.
• Cleans, disinfects, dusts, vacuum, sweep, mop all necessary areas and fixtures to maintain a clean environment. This includes but is not limited to walls, ceilings, windows, sinks, toilets, exam tables, mirrors, telephones, light switches in all rooms, hallways, and other assigned spaces.
• May be required to conduct periodical general building checks.
• Notify direct supervisor when supplies are needed.
• Notify direct supervisor of any repairs or hazardous conditions.
• Follow all safety rules and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work exposes incumbent to conditions such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
• Work exposes incumbent to moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.
• Work exposes incumbent to hazardous chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases.
• Work is mostly indoors with limited exposure to hot, cold or inclement weather.
• Work possibly exposes incumbent to blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and airborne particles.
• Work requires knowledge and use of Personal Protective Equipment.
• Work schedules are typically outside of business hours - 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Some weekends maybe needed to accomplish scheduled tasks.
• Overtime is possible depending on scheduling and staff availability.
• Local travel may be required.
