SALARY RANGE: $23.00 - $48.00

SUMMARY:
The Cultural Practitioner is responsible for working directly with and supporting the Cultural Advisor to integrate cultural programing across HHS services and departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or GED is preferred, with experience in Native American cultural programming and support.
• Must understand the cultural and spiritual traditions of Native American communities.
• Commitment to Native American cultural programming.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and Band rules, regulations, and policies.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and CR 42.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to write effectively.
• Basic computer skills, including Windows and Word.
• Must have a current valid driver’s license.
• Must be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band Drivers Insurance policy.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Must pass background investigation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate cultural programming in collaboration with the Cultural Advisor.
• Participate in the multi-disciplinary team approach to care in a culturally based model of care.
• Participate in and/or facilitate cultural groups and activities.
• Network with other tribal organizations.
• Maintain appropriate records for clients with whom there is interaction.
• Meet with clients, both individually and in groups, and with their families to provide cultural support and education.
• Assist clients as necessary and appropriate while in treatment and recovery.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Though hours are typically 8:00-5:00, this position requires some flexibility in scheduling as driven by community need and support during ceremonies and cultural events. Programming may require weekend hours.
• Moderate stress levels may be experienced from time to time.
• Work is primarily indoors; however, some cultural programming is outdoors. Safety of clients and staff is in the forefront of planning and conducting outdoor activities.
