EPIC Credentialed Trainer

JOB TYPE: Full Time

SALARY RANGE: $30.00 - $50.00

SUMMARY:
The Epic Credentialed Trainer (CT) is responsible for delivering end-user training for Epic electronic health record (EHR) applications. This role ensures that clinical and operational staff are proficient in using Epic systems to enhance patient care and efficiency. CT works collaboratively with Epic Optimizers, and operational leaders to provide training, support, and on-going education.
CT will play a key role in educating staff, developing training materials, conducting classroom sessions, and providing at-the-elbow support during go-live and optimization phases. This position requires strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to engage learners at all levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare information management, education, Information Technology, or a related field or experience commensurate to be successful in this role.
• Must successfully complete Epic Credentialing for the assigned application(s).
• Prior experience as a trainer, educator, or facilitator in a healthcare or IT setting is preferred.
• Previous experience in training, adult learning, instructional design, or healthcare IT is highly desirable; experience with Epic is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with healthcare operations and clinical workflows.
• Experience in a clinical, revenue cycle, or healthcare administration environment preferred.
• Experience with virtual training platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Ability to navigate Epic applications and demonstrate system functionality.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage learners of various backgrounds.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Adaptability to different learning styles and end-user needs.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently and in a team setting
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
• Must have current valid driver’s license.
• Must be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band Drivers Insurance policy.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Training Delivery & Facilitation
• Conduct classroom, virtual, and one-on-one training sessions for Epic users, including clinicians, nurses, administrative staff, and providers.
• Facilitate hands-on training and guide users through workflows and best practices.
• Adapt training style to different audiences, ensuring engagement and comprehension.
• Provide one-on-one coaching, at-the-elbow support, and troubleshooting assistance during system go-lives and software updates.
• Assess end-user competency and provide additional support or retraining as needed.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Epic workflows, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and best practices.

Curriculum & Content Management
• Follow structured lesson plans and Epic training materials.
• Assist in the development, revision, and maintenance of training materials, including e-learning modules, job aids, quick reference guides, and lesson plans.
• Provide feedback on curriculum effectiveness and suggest improvements to ensure training content aligns with system functionality and end-user needs.
• Participate in regular curriculum updates following system upgrades and enhancements.

Collaboration & Communication:
• Partner with Epic Optimizers, application teams, and operational leaders to understand system workflows and translate technical processes into user-friendly training.
• Provide feedback to IT and operational teams regarding system usability and common end-user challenges.
• Document and report training metrics, user feedback, and areas for improvement.
• Communicate training updates and new functionality to end users.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.
• Participate in system testing, including workflow validation and upgrade readiness assessments.

Compliance & Best Practices:
• Ensure training aligns with industry standards, organizational policies, and Epic best practices.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality guidelines.

End-User Support & Optimization
• Serve as a frontline resource during go-live support and system upgrades.
• Provide at-the-elbow support and coaching to reinforce Epic best practices.
• Troubleshoot user issues and escalate system-related concerns.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Typical workdays are 0800-500 PM however based on departmental and organizational needs this could be adjusted.
• On-site or hybrid training delivery based on organizational needs.
• Travel may be required for training sessions at outer districts.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during go-live events.
• Ability to work remotely, depending on organizational needs and approvals.
• Work is indoors
