Ge-niigaanizijig Youth Education District Coordinator (D2A)

SALARY RANGE: $39,547.00 - $60,500.00

SUMMARY:
The District Coordinator is responsible for providing program and administrative management skills to ensure a safe and quality program at each Coordinator’s respective service area: Nay Ah Shing, East Lake, Isle, Hinckley or Lake Lena. The Coordinator is also responsible for an effective, properly trained staff, a well maintained facility and positive program marketing (social, local outlets, collaborative organizations) to the community. The Coordinator is also responsible to seek out and maintain positive working relationships with area agencies or organizations to advance program goals. The Coordinator is responsible for staff mentor staff supervision. The position will evaluate program performance and make recommendations for program improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two (2) years of formal post-secondary education is required. Bachelors preferred
• Must have five (5) plus years of experience in youth development.
• Must have five (5) plus years of experience in program development, implementation and evaluation, budget development including income and expense, staff management, and maintaining records.
• Three to five (3-5) years’ experience working in Native American communities.
• Strong skills in staff recruiting, training and supervision.
• Should be able to collaborate effectively and interpret program opportunities to the community.
• Must have maturity in judgment, be very organized, and be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to meet needs and goals of their respective service area and the program.
• Ability to collaborate with outside community organizations, actively pursue positive working relationships with school districts families, teachers, support services and intergovernmental agencies.
• Needs to be a team player and collaborate for the total well being of each community they serve.
• Ensure accurate data entry for reporting purposes.
• Must have excellent computer skills.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
• Uphold and implement program staff, and MLBO policies and procedures.
• Must have drivers license Must be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band Drivers Insurance policy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee all aspects of Site Operations including but not limited to: staff supervision, facility management, program management, and risk management.
• Utilize performance standards with staff.
• Must be able to relay and administer clear expectations for staff.
• Prepare, distribute, and manage staff weekly work schedules.
• Participate in the preparation of the budget both income and expense and operate within those limits.
• Submit periodic (Daily, Weekly, Monthly) written reports including but not limited to, statistical information and critical supervisory analysis.
• Participate fully with program participants in all scheduled activities.
• Maintain community collaborations including but limited to neighborhood committees, parent groups, community youth organizations, local school district’s staff, local board committees, statewide youth organizations, and intergovernmental agencies/offices.
• Complete Intake w/families
• Must be able to properly navigate local organizations (news, school districts, local agencies, social media, etc.) for positive program promotion of activities and opportunities.
• Enforce the follow through of scheduling, through lesson planning and program progress reporting. A tool that will eventually be used interdepartmentally to better provide services and activities for our clientele.
• Recruit, hire, and manage staff, temporary staff, volunteers, and contract help. Provide new hires with appropriate orientation to Band policies and procedures in procurement and HR policies.
• Investigate incidents and referrals, review documentation, follow up on same, prepare and file report of each incident and referral with the Director. Follow chain of command.
• Report community and youth program activities and status, monthly to Director.
• Supervise use of the program vehicles, maintain monthly use calendar, document use and mileage, maintain the cleanliness of vans, and enforce vehicle policy.
• Enforce all Mille Lacs Band and program policies and recreation rules.
• Ensure the cleanliness of all facilities after program use.
• Administer the development, implementation and evaluation of all programs. (critical analysis)
• Develop annual goals and objectives.
• Coordinate all aspects of the after school snack program.
• Display healthy habits, and behaviors throughout your tenure as an employee of the department.
• Communicate effectively with community, schools, outside groups, staff, members, parents and board.
• Attend Tribal District Community Meetings, Sobriety Feasts, on monthly basis.
• Attend regular staff meetings, committee meetings and complete statistical record keeping as required.
• Complete detailed reports including incident reports and program progress reports.
• Oversee special projects as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Must abide by mandated reporting guidelines.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Typical Hours are 12:00p.m.-9:00p.m., Monday – Friday. Extra hours and weekend availability are required for this job on an, as needed basis. Or hours of operation. Or need of director.
• Nature of work subjects the Coordinator to moderate stress levels.
• Little threat of personal danger or risk.
• Work is primarily indoors, but may require work outside for events and trips.
• Ability to hike, run, and participate in sports activities.
• Local travel is required.
