June 30, 2025 – Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Chief Executive Virgil Wind is pleased to announce a new partnership between Grand Casinos and the Minnesota Wild. Grand Casinos has secured the naming rights marketing partnership to the arena formerly known as Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. In September 2025, it will be named Grand Casino Arena. “This partnership is more than a marketing decision – it’s a bold signal that the Mille Lacs Band builds, leads, and invests with vision. It puts our story of resilience and innovation in front of millions, while creating long-term value for our people and enterprises. We didn’t get here alone, and this moment reflects the strength of our partnerships and the power of what we can achieve” It’s a great day for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe!

January 29, 2025 - Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Chief Executive Virgil Wind provides an important update regarding the recent actions by President Trump to freeze all federal grants and funding.

***UPDATE: Shortly after this video was recorded, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget rescinded its initial memorandum pausing federal assistance. Chief Wind added “The Millle Lacs Band has many resources, assets and tools in its arsenal to combat the ever changing issues. We are working around the clock to address these issues as they arise. We are very fortunate to have devoted, caring staff that are always looking out for our members”

Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Chief Executive Virgil Wind gives the 2025 State of the Band (as required by Band statute), Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Grand Casino Mille Lacs' Convention Center. Chief Wind declared 2025 to be the ‘Year of the Child.

Please check out Chief Executive Virgil Wind’s video. Chief Wind extends a warm welcome to all Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe members to the 41st Annual State of the Band Address on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Grand Casino Mille Lacs Events and Convention Center.

Be sure to come early to check out all the resource tables that will have various Program & Services information and swag available. They will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Doors to the convention center will open at 9:30 a.m.
