Nay Ah Shing Schools provide education for students in grades K-12. Nay Ah Shing is North Central Association (NCA) accredited and meets all criteria established by the State of Minnesota. Pine Grove Leadership in Aazhoomog (District III) is a satellite of Nay Ah Shing.

Programs

OJIBWEMOWIN ENOKIIJIG

This program integrates the Ojibwe language into the K-12 curriculum at Nay Ah Shing Schools and offers instruction on Ojibwe cultural activities, such as ricing, netting, trapping, and maple sugaring. The Ojibwe Language and Culture Program also works with Elders in the community through the Elder Advisory Team. During the summer, an immersion program is offered for all students. The program was recognized in 1999 as one of the top programs of its kind in the nation.

AMERICAN INDIAN BUSINESS LEADERS (AIBL)

Nay Ah Shing has two nationally recognized AIBL chapters for middle and high school students. Students in AIBL learn about starting and operating their own businesses during the school year and participate in a week-long summer entrepreneurship program. The Student Council hosts many events during the school year, including lock-ins, dances, carnivals, and community service projects.

DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION (DARE)

Drug Abuse Resistance Education, a national program that gives students the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence, is offered to Nay Ah Shing sixth grade students.

Powwow Picz is a Nay Ah Shing student-run business that helps youth gain entrepreneurial skills. It is open at various times throughout the school year and at summer powwow events.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Nay Ah Shing’s National Honor Society is a national scholastic organization that recognizes high school students’ academic achievements. National Honor Society students participate in community service, gain leadership skills, and build character.

Students Against Destructive Decisions is a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing students from making destructive decisions. The group focuses on decreasing incidents of underage drinking, drug use, impaired driving, violence, depression, and suicide.
